Toby

Archie and Toby
Illinois Toby

Toby is doing great. He has gained almost an entire pound, so he has filled in and looks healthy. He and Archie are great buddies. Toby has become a "monkey see, monkey do" dog when Archie does something out of the ordinary. Sometimes Toby does not know why he is running and barking, but he does it because Archie does it! It's very cute. He rely's on Archie to be there for him. The two of them have a daily play date where they wrestle and chase each other. They both look so happy when they play. I think that both of them are thrilled to have each other. Toby and Archie snuggle together a lot but Toby usually still sleeps (at night) in his bed that you brought with him. I think it is comforting to him. Toby is slowly becoming a lap dog. He sits with me when I watch a movie (sometimes); he usually keeps track of my whereabouts during the day but he does not always want to be on my lap. But I can say for certain that he does not like it when I leave the house. He speaks out loud about that!

We traveled to Florida via automobile last month. The drive was no problem for Toby. He absolutely loved the life in Florida. He lounged outside or in the sunshine as much as he could. When I walked him into the shopping circle he had many admirers. He sits very tall and proud when we stop to talk to friends. And he was like the eveready battery bunny when he walked. He never wanted to stop. When in Florida, on our walks, we passed by several other dogs. All of which Toby seemed to want to avoid at all cost. He would go as far away from the dog as possible. He seems to be afraid of the dogs, but he does nothing more than run the other direction.

10/16/09 is our 1 year anniversary with Toby. It's been a great year with the little cutie.

Thank you, Carrie Collins

Velcro/Tilly with Amy and Patrick

Amy and Velcro
Tilly

HI! Velcro here (read about my unusual name below!) and you can see in my pictures that my new forever mom, Amy, is wild about me! You can also see in the seond picture that I have had playmates since the time I arrived in my new home. My new sister is the beautiful blonde in the middle of the family and I am with my dad, Patrick.

My Happy Tails story took me on a long trip from Illinois to Florida. My Foster mom Heather found me in a filthy shelter in Illinois. I had been twice rejected by potential owners, was dirty , and full of fleas and bad memories. All of this at only 9 months old! It took my FM 2 tries before she could get them to release me. Foster Mom took me home and got me clean, healthy and groomed. She named me "Toby." I felt great but what really was cool was NO CAGE and I had a whole bunch of other former escapees from the shelters to play with.

While all this was going on, way down south in Florida my mom and dad felt ready to get another pup after their 17 year old, Schooner, went to the Rainbow Bridge. They also felt that it would be good for Precious, their 8 year old cocker-poo, to have another furbaby for companionship. Mom found the UYR site and started looking for a furever pup. Well, Florida had lots of adoptees, but after mom and dad got through the adoption process (they applied for three FL pups) but (lucky for me!) they found furever homes already. Well, mom and dad started looking at all the pups online and both of them focused on, you guessed it, ME! In October last year, Dad flew to St. Louis to meet FM and bring me home as a birthday present for mom. Mom was so excited she couldn't wait and met us at the Atlanta airport for the last leg home. The plane was fun but I wasn't going to stay under the seat in the carrier. Mom let me out and hid me under a blanket and the three of us bonded.

I love mom and dad so much and they are crazy about me! Precious and I are inseparable and real fursisters. Mom and dad named me "Velcro" because that's how I stick to my new family. In fact, mom and dad like me and UYR so much, they became foster parents last year and right now two lucky pups are living with us waiting for their furever homes. I not only have a Happy Tail story, I won the doggie lottery!

Willie, a.k.a. Ernie
Ernie

Little Willie's Little Saga:

Little Willie was a rough diamond when I bought him home. I knew he was special but did'nt really know why.,as the rough layers have been cut a away, he's sparkling. One day about 9 mos. ago my mother said;. look at his tail.!! ( his tail had been cut too short we noticed the day we picked him up.) What we didn't realize, because it was, cut so short. was,...he was tucking it. What a journey this tough little macho 8lb dog had been on., He now carries his tail high and proud for all the world to see. Willie has become a beautiful brilliant cut diamond. He is cherised, kept safe, and shown off. What a differance a year can make. He feels like a gift from god. Thank you UYR for making it possible.

Fursisters Maggie, Ginger - ME-BENNY! and Furbrother Leo.
Benny

Hi everyone - it's Benny and boy-oh-boy am I happy! See, my Foster Mom Paulette, and Foster Dad Danny, failed Fostering 101.... they ended up adopting me! Hehe! I told them I liked it where I was and no other home was going to do. I love it here in Key West. I have a Fur-sister Maggie (on the far left in the HT pix) and a Fur-Brother Leo (on the far right in the HT pix). The other pup in the pix is Ginger, a UYR pup who's up for adoption. She's fun, too. Well, I just wanted to send you my new pix. I've gained a few pounds (hey, the food's good here), but I was so skinny when I was rescued. The Dogtor says my weight is where it should be. Sending lots of kisses. Your bud, Benny

Camille, the former Anastasia

One lucky dog
Anastasia

Anastasia has a new home and a new name. Her new family writes:

Camille is doing fantastic. She went to the vet a couple of weeks ago and the vet said she was clear to go to be groomed. Her ringworm seems to be gone now. We are almost done with the medication now. The vet said she was in great health , but she does have luxating patellas. If it becomes necessary down the road our vet clinic does the surgery to fix it. We absolutely adore her. She is 4.2 pounds now and energetic as ever. We had her groomed for the first time on Saturday. The groomer said that she did really well, but as we explained to her she doesn't like being brushed. Camille likes to play with Sasha, our youngest cat but, she is still trying to win over Angel, our first cat. We keep having to remind Angel that Camille isn't going anywhere so she might as well get used to her being around. Thank you so much for allowing us to have her. She is the perfect addition to our little family.

Nala

Nala and her new family
Nala

Nala is a beautiful little 6# ,10 y/o yorkie girlie who was snatched from a high-kill shelter in Florida by a UYR member right before she was scheduled to be euthanized. Foster Mom knew that the tattoo in her ear indicated that Nala was raised in a puppymill and spent many, many years there in solitude, kept in a cage barely big enough to turn around in, giving birth to little puppies destined to be sold in pet stores all over the country. She led a sad, lonely and scary life there until she was sold at an auction, and then somehow ended up in a shelter.

Although her adoptive parents were looking for a younger dog to be a companion to their 4 y/o yorkie, Buzz, when they saw Nala, they knew that she would be a perfect fit in their home, and she would be treated like a little Princess. Their 17 y/o son was even excited that they were adopting Nala!

From Nala's Mom.............

I wanted to let you know that Nala was actually running behind her new brother, Buzz, in the

back yard.....she loves it out there. She already found her new little bed and has laid down a few times, but she keeps getting up to follow Buzz around and sniffing everything ...they are like 2 peas in a pod. Thanks to her Foster Mom Jenn for everything - you are wonderful and have a very big heart.

Milo and new family

Milo begging
Milo

Hi ~~ Milo here. I have settled very nicely into my forever home with my new mom Karen and my new dad Roger. Thet have made my transition very easy and are seeing to my every need and want. I also want to thank my previous people who loved me and took care of me for nearly 8 years. I will always hold a special place in my heart for them. I would also like to thank my Foster Mom and Dad for everything they have done for me, especially for finding me a forever home! I have the best of both worlds, because my foster parents love me, too, and let me come to visit every now and again. My new Mom and Dad are pretty charmed by my pretty sitting when I would like something and it's almost as if they can read my mind! Amazing!!! My sore ear is getting better every day even though ear-drops are not my favorite part of the day. I know Mom and Dad are sad they lost their first yorkie over a year ago, but now they have ME to spoil. Mom says she loves me more than I could ever know!!! How about that? And Dad is really cool the way he lets me chill out with him and share his comfy recliner anytime I want, whether he is in it or not!!! So, to make a long story short-I am so grateful for United Yorkie Rescue and so are my Mom and Dad. Mom is so impressed with UYR that she has applied to become a MEMBER and wants to help other yorkies, too! I am so proud of my Mom and Dad I could just LICK YOUR FACE!!! LOVE, MILO

PeeTee and new mom, Dorothy
PeeTee

PeeTee's original owners loved him a whole lot, but were unable to take him with them when they relocated. He's a happy little boy who has been the only dog in his previous home - the king of the house. PeeTee has been adopted into a wonderful new home.......read all about it below..........

In a recent move to Florida to be closer to her family, PeeTee's new mom found that her new house was just perfect except for one thing..... it was just too quiet. So when her daughter found United Yorkie Rescue, Inc. on the web, they began the search for a canine companion to liven up the house a bit. When new mom Dorothy saw PeeTee's photo, it was that instant that she knew he was the one; and when she met him in person, she know he was her's! PeeTee is a loving and playful little guy that enjoys being right by his new mom's side and loves running around in her newly-fenced yard. He loves to play with his ball & has a lot of energy. He certainly keeps her previously quiet days full of excitement and love and has become the king of the house!

Have a happy life, little PeeTee!

Annie & Hallie

The Happy Family
Hallie

Hello everyone ~~ Hallie and Annie here. We are twin little yorkie girlies. Our new parents drove all the way from Miami, Fl to Memphis TN just to rescue us, and let us tell you we were so happy to meet them. Even the ride back was great, we slept in our two beds in the back seat, had wonderful treats on the way back and plenty of rest stops. We are now living in a beautiful house with a really huge backyard, lots of green grass and plenty of places to explore. We have beds in the living room, kitchen and the office. Plus we have a really big bed in the bedroom where we can sleep with Mom & Dad. WOW! What a lovely life we are living. We even have a carriage and are allowed to go out to dinner. We owe all this to the wonderful people at United Yorkie Rescue!!

In our former home we were kept in a crate all day and all night and we were so unhappy.....that's no way for beautiful princesses like us to live now, is it?

We both have only one request. PLEASE, PLEASE adopt a dog ~~ it will not only make the dog's life richer, but your life as well. It really is an WIN- WIN situation. We also want to thank all the wonderful folks at United Yorkie Rescue for making all this possible. We urge all of you who read this to spread the word about UYR. Write your newspaper, contact all your friends, and let everyone know that each and every dog deserves a chance. We don't have the words to really tell you how happy we are.

Gina
Gina

Hi UYR foster moms!

I wanted to let you know that I am very happy here in the beautiful state of Maine with my new family and home. I do still think about you and will never forget what a wonderful foster home you gave to me. Dianne, I also wanted to say "Thank You" for being the caring person that you are, and opening up your heart and home to all of us pups needing new homes, or medical care, etc. We are so fortunate that people like you exist!

My brother, Kyuse, is quite handsome, and thinks that I am quite fetching as well! He loves to play with me for hours upon hours until we get so tired we have to take a nap. This is just my morning activity. After our morning nap, we go outside and play some more. I love to play with Riley's basketball! My new mom thinks I could be a championship soccer player :] Then we go in for a nap with dad :] I love all of my new toys, especially the rubber "Nylabone", and BIG red lobster with rope legs that Kyuse and I play tug-o-war with!!! Last night, we played "Mousie" with mom on the "big" bed. There is apparently a mouse under the blanket, but we have yet to see it! So we chase after it anyway. Very fun :]~

I think I am putting some weight in my new home as well, as both Kyuse and I are fed very well. My new doctor told my new mom that she could give us some cooked frozen vegetables in our food as a treat. I love the pea's, corn, and carrots :]~ Yummy! I can't wait to see how much I weigh when I go back to the vet on September 26th for my 2nd Lyme disease shot.

Oh yeah, I think my mom was going to try to take a picture of me in the pool on the boogie board, if the pool company doesn't come to close the pool up for the winter today :[ Boo! But, Kyuse tells me that it is just as much fun to run across the pool's winter cover and watch the water fly up out of the drain holes! He is such a dare devil :]~ Kyuse and I will also be posing for some pictures together, as well as pictures of me modeling my new Maine winter gear, if you want to post those to the "Happy Tails" website, as well as my letter to you today. Just let my mom know, and she will send those pictures to you, OK?

Well, I gotta run and play with Kyuse now...

Much puppy love and wet kisses~Gina

Millie
Millie

We are getting ready to celebrate our first anniversary with Millie and I don't think there are enough words to tell you how much we love her. She is as beautiful as ever, and she went to the groomer today. We have three other Yorkies and it took her awhile, but she has learned to play tug of war with them and has become quite the sociable dog. She is still a mommy's girl, but I think that comes from the year of living with just one person. She is very attached to our 4 year old grand daughter, which is a miracle considering that she had never been with children.

I cannot thank you enough for our Millie. She sleeps on our pillow and is truly the queen of our house. I thank all of you at Yorkie Rescue for choosing us to take her.

As you can see, she hasn't changed much. She loves to jump on the kitchen counter, I think she is half cat. I have never seen a dog that can jump like this. Tomorrow is our annivesary with her and we are having a puppy Cake. Thanks again for the wonderful year.

Gizmo and family
Gizmo

Gizmo and his family are perfect for one another

Gizmo was adopted in August of 2008 to a family that needed a 'child tested' Yorkie that would fit in with their family that included a young daughter. Since Gizmo was 'child tested' by Auntie M's 2 year old granddaughter they knew he would be a perfect fit for them.

They drove more than 11 hours in one day to pick him up and take him to his wonderful Forever Home.

This is their second Christmas together!! Another United Yorkie Rescue 'HAPPY ENDING!'

Roxie has a forever home
Roxie

Roxie came into UYR when her owners dropped her off at a high-kill shelter because they apparently couldn't take care of this sweetheart anymore. What a precious little girlie who loves to go for long walks, jumping up and down like a pogo stick when Foster Mom brought out the leash. She also loved to give puppy kisses and go for car rides......and she had so much love to give to her new family. And she is certainly lovin' life now that she has a forever family. There's almost always someone home with this little princess who spends her time being loved on by her new mommy, her grandparents and her skin brother! Roxie will never ever be homeless again. Have a wonderful life, little Roxie!

Sonny

Skittlez and Sonny
Sonny

Sonny's new mom writes:

Hi, Sonny is a very good little boy! He loves to play with Skittlez! Skittlez loves to play and now is the one starting the play! He is giving a lot more kisses since we've had him and when we say the magic word (potty) he spins in circles and is very happy! He jumps in the air and when he wants to play but we are laying down or sitting, he takes his bone and will fling it in the air or moan and bark for attention. Sonny makes us happy and is fitting in very well. The groomer said that when Skittlez was on the grooming table and Sonny was in the cage waiting for his turn, he wouldn't stop barking because he is so attached to Skittlez. He has a terrific personality! When we brush him he loves to hold the brush in his mouth!

sincerely,

Brittany - thank you for giving us Sonny - he is a pleasure.

Jackey

Hi! It's me, Jack! I used to be called Jackey, but now I'm "Just Jack". Sorry this Happy Tails story is coming so late. I've been so busy having fun with my new family. I am sooo happy with my FURever mom, Marlene, and my fur-sister, Barbie. I just love my new life. Mommy says I am such a good little boy. She loves me to pieces and even takes me to work with her sometimes. Everybody at work loves me, too, and thinks I am so cute. I make sure she tells them I was rescued by UYR. Thank you UYR for saving my life and finding me such a great mommy!

Molly looking content
Molly

When I first read about Molly, my heart went out to her. Being a rescue, I wasn't sure if I could handle it. So, after much thought and prayer, I decided to adopt her.

She shares my home with India, my other yorkie. We go for daily walks around the neighborhood and she loves to ride in the car. Sometimes she looks so intently at me I wonder what she is thinking.

If anyone is contemplating adopting a rescue, my advice is give a yorkie a chance at a good life. I am glad I did!

Update from Rose's new mom,

Hi, I just wanted to let you know things are going well with Rose. She is coming out of her shell and is getting along well. She and her brother Dinky still have a way to go, but are making progress. I'm sending a few pictures of the kids. One is of me with Dinky on the left and Rose on the right. Another is of Rose and the last is of Rose and Dinky having fun tearing up papers :) Rose is a great dog and I would encourage anyone to consider adopting a rescue dog.

Warm Regards,

Lucky couldn't be happier!
Lucky

Lucky wrote to UYR to tell us how he's doing in his new home!

I am very happy with my new family. We are having a great time. I have been playing with all my new toys. My favorite is a blue lobster. I guess my new mommy, Lauren, is spoiling me. On second thought she just loves me sooooo much J!! Thank you for helping find such a loving family. I couldn't have done it without you. I have learned to sit, and lie down, but I just don't get "roll over" yet. I have been going for walks and riding on a floaty in the pool. This is the life. My allergies are doing great. I have only scratched once, well maybe twice, but I feel great. I am sending a few pictures so you can see how I am doing. Tell all my friends I love them.
