UYR's Latest Rescues

JANUARY 2016 UPDATE FROM THE BOARD

It’s a New Year! 2015 was an amazing and busy year for us with some impressive statistics: 196 rescued dogs and 191 adoptions with vet expenses of $159,220 and donations of $158,100 so happily we are still quite viable. We currently have 33 dogs in active rescue who are seeking forever homes and 12 in our Forever Ours program where we keep unadoptable dogs with terminal conditions in our care for the remainder of their lives. Sadly in 2015 we lost 13 of our foster dogs, two of which were in our Forever Ours program (Zoe and Zeus).

The end of 2015 came with 5 dog surrenders on the December 31 including Missy who is currently battling Parvovirus. She came with 3 other siblings that so far appear healthy but they have been exposed and we are taking precautions to keep them isolated until we can be assured they have not contracted this deadly virus.

We know sometimes questions arise as to how our funds are used and as you can tell from the numbers above (which are also reported on our Form 990 to IRS and appear on GuideStar), every penny and more go towards the care of the dogs we rescue. As a fully volunteer rescue organization, we have no paid members and our only administrative expenses are for modest items like check stock, website maintenance, insurance, Paypal expenses and postage. We are proud to say that we have a “Five Star” rating on GuideStar which is the highest rating available! You are invited to scroll down this page and go the to GuideStar page to see our report. 2015 should be posted within this month.

We are into our 14th year of operation and still going strong thanks to our wonderful supporters and solid foster member team. On behalf of our members and the 23 States that we call home we all wish you a very Happy New Year. We thank you for your dedication to our cause and look forward to your continuing support in 2016!

With so many dogs with critical needs, we want to say THANK YOU to our wonderful donors whose support enables us to continue the work we do. Without you and our fabulous foster parents, we would not be able to continue to help these precious pups.

Check out our adoptable pups on Looking for Love to find your perfect companion. If you are interested in adopting a dog not located in your state, please note that we do not ship dogs via air cargo. Out of state transport guidelines are explained on our online adoption request form.

Can you imagine forcing your pet dog to live his or her entire life in a small wire cage with no human companionship, toys, or comfort, and little hope of ever becoming part of a family? That is what life is like for a puppy mill breeding dog. Help us stop this cycle of cruelty that contributes to pet overpopulation and the suffering of countless dogs by adopting your next pet. There are many places you can adopt your next pet, such as an animal shelter, humane society, or a rescue organization. Click on our Looking for Love link and check out all the beautiful Yorkies in our foster program. If you don't see what you are looking for, we recommend visiting www.petfinder.com. You might be surprised to see all the pets available in your area. Remember: Adopt, Don't Shop!

UYR could not continue to rescue Yorkies in need without the help of our donors. To date we have rescued: 2,512 Yorkies and Yorkie mixes. Our vetting costs to date are: $1,300,000!!

Any amount is truly needed and appreciated. A $5.00 donation allows us to purchase Heartworm prevention for a month for a rescue. For $30.00 we can rescue a Yorkie from a shelter that would otherwise be put to sleep. Won't you please consider joining the list of donors on our page to help us continue to save our beloved breed?

If you would like to make a donation to our organization, please use the following PayPal button! Or, send a check to our treasurer at the address below the Paypal button. We are an approved 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax-deductible. IRS rules for Donors

FOREVER OURS - 09/01/2011
