United Yorkie Rescue, Inc. was founded on August 5, 2002, by a group of loyal and hard-working rescue friends. We consolidated our efforts and talents to form a family dedicated to the rescue and well-being of the Yorkshire Terrier. We have pledged to rescue as many Yorkies and Yorkie mixes in need as is logistically and physically possible. In addition, we are devoted to providing love, nourishment, rehabilitation, socialization, and "pawsome" forever homes!! Mission Statement:
Thank you for visiting our website!! We hope you will learn something about the Yorkshire Terrier breed that you didn't know before and have fun while you're doing it. Please visit our adoption page, "Looking For Love," and read about the rescued yorkies that are currently looking for their new families. If you see one that pulls at your heartstrings, click on the Adoption Application link to complete and submit an online application. WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS FOR THIS ADORABLE LITTLE FELLA ******* Trooper is about 10 years old and been in UYR's Forever Ours program for over a year. He has developed bladder stones and UYR is having them removed before he is placed on a special diet. The surgery is estimated to cost between $636 and over $700. Cost to date for Trooper are $3222.88. Can you help? Posted 12/20/07: United Yorkie Rescue would like you to consider the advantages of adopting an older Yorkie. POISON HOTLINE FOR PETS! - 5/24/2007
Kansas State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital is offering a FREE 24 hours poison control hotline for pet owners and veterinarians. 1+785-532-5679 is the number and the service has been available since 1969. Dr Oehme, a vet and professor in toxicology and pathology oversees the hotline. Dr Oehme offers these suggestions:
- Be patient. The person answering the phone may have to take a few minutes to consult the vet on duty. - Call as soon as possible. Immediate attention might save your animal. But waiting to see if there is a reaction could cost your animal their life. - Have any product labels available for answers. The vet might need to know milligrams and generic names. - Know your pet. Drooling could only mean he is thrilled to see you! - Know that the toxicologists are also taking calls from vets about other animals and other problems, including those problems with large animals.
